Julian Assange: Bad Guy or Good Guy? That is the question...

Broadhurst, Christopher. "If I can be indicted, other journalists can too." WikiLeaks (Organization)140.5035 (2011): 22-25. Academic Search Complete. EBSCO. Web. 20 Apr. 2011.

New Statesmen strongly believes Julian Assange should not be an enemy. New Statesmen wants those to know that Assange just so happens to be a link to important information. They want people to know that this information can be a huge deal for those in which the information affects. When this information is released, New Statesmen wants to alert people about how this information that will be released will affect a lot of people. They also believe that people are blaming some of the war and economic downfall on Wiki Leaks, when in fact it’s the government we should be blaming. They want others to realize that Assange is just a person who has this information and is trying to inform others on what he has found out about this government.

This point of view that New Statesmen is showing in this article is important because, those who want to blame Julian Assange on his behavior is a little out of order because we should be focusing on the government’s betrayal. This way of viewing Wiki Leaks and all that it has done and all that it is doing, is just another way to understand and comprehend an opinion. New Statesmen just wants others to see both sides and so they will be able to debate from all sides. When and if there is a riot about some things that may come out in the future because of Wiki Leaks, people will be ready to riot and debate on this issue. Wiki Leaks to some may not be a big deal because Wiki Leaks doesn’t affect them quite yet, but nobody knows what is soon to be released. Some know that Julian is locked up, but this guy isn’t stupid, I’m sure he has people out there hidden and working for him to release any information when he gives them the go. My research project intertwines with this subject because students should understand what is going on in this world with technology, so they can be ready to debate and riot their belief. They will learn to stand up for what they think is right and that is where having a voice comes into play.
